Minutes of the meeting of Scredington Parish Council

Monday 13th March 2023

Present:

Councillors R. Johnson (Chairman), A. Pywell (Vice Chairman), I. Metcalfe and J.Dixon (Clerk).

 

Chairmans Welcome.

The Chairman welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance.

Public Forum

Mr Peter Griffiths joined the meeting; Peter has kindly taken on the role of taking care of the Parish Council website and reported that documents are now being successfully uploaded which is a great relief. Many Thanks to Peter for taking on this role.

Apologies were received from Councillor John Johnson and District Councillor R. Jackson and County Councillor A. Hagues .

 

  1. Declarations of Interest according to the Localism Act 2011

There were no declarations made.

  1. Minutes of the last meeting

Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 12th December 2022 were signed as a true and correct record.

  1. Report from District / County Councillors

There were no District Councillors present, however Cllr R Jackson forwarded a report in his absence.

7      Planning Applications

Reference: 22/1786/HOUS

Proposal: Erection of single storey rear extension

Location: 3 Church lane Scredington

The application was for information only as it was a granted application.

        8     Finance

8.1 Chairman Cllr R. Johnson reported that the council is in a healthy position; one cheque has been issued since the last meeting which was on 1st March 2023 to HMRC for PAYE.

A further two cheques were issued at the meeting, £40.78 for the purchase of a website domain and £600.00 for Clerk wages.

8.2 Chairman R. Johnson will email the bank statements and invoices through to the Clerk for financial records.

8.3 Two requests have been received by the Clerk regarding play equipment for the village. One for the playground and one for a play group at the village hall. Both requests have been responded to.

8.4 A request regarding the availability of an allotment was received, this request has been responded to.

8.5 Scredington community centre have issued a request to the Parish Council to support improvements to the football pitch. These improvements are being subsidised by the FA with an estimate of cost at £12800.00. It was resolved that the Parish Council will support with a payment of £3200.00 to be paid over 6 years.

8.6 The grass has now had its first cut by CJP Garden Services and looks wonderful. It was resolved that the Parish Council will pay for six cuts and the church will pay for two cuts.

       9      Highway Matters

It was advised by Chairman R. Johnson that a blocked drain and a broken sign have been reported on ‘Fix my street’.

 

  1. Matters affecting the village / correspondence

10.1 There are no further updates regarding the proposed New Lincolnshire Reservoir

10.2 The forthcoming coronation of King Charles iii was discussed and it was resolved to buy 75 commemorative mugs at a cost of £5.00 each of which Cllr I Metcalfe will arrange, each one with a fine decoration designed by himself.

Cllr Alan Pywell will design and display a street party poster and organise bunting etc. It was proposed by Chairman R Johnson and seconded by Cllr Ian Metcalfe that a proposal should be put to the Church and the Community Centre for a three way split of costs.

The Chairman thanked Cllrs A. Pywell and I Metcalfe for their work and commitment.

        11  Any Other Business

11.1 Mrs Karen Sweeney was Co- Opted as a Councillor to take office after the forthcoming elections in May subject to their being no other applicants. Should there be further applicants , then an election will be held.

11.2 All Councillors completed their nomination forms and are required to deliver themselves by hand the NKDC offices before the 4th April 2023.

        12  Date of the next meeting

The date of the next meeting will be Monday 22nd May 2023 in the Community Centre commencing at 7:30pm. This meeting will incorporate the Annual Parish Meeting. All welcome to attend.
