Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting on 2nd March 2026

DRAFT Minutes of the Meeting of Scredington Parish Council

Monday 2nd March 2026

Prior to the meeting, members of the public were asked if there were any issues that they wished to raise. Brief discussions on rhe following topics took place:

*          Engaging with our MP about the Anglian Water reservoir and flood risk mitigation

*          One member of the public related his experience of being harassed by loose dog(s) for the second time in 3 months. The Chairman said that this was not really an issue for the Parish Council, but the public should contact the relevant authorities themselves.

Present:

Councillors R Johnson (Chairman), A. Pywell, J. Johnson, K. Sweeney; and P.D. Griffiths (Parish Clerk).

Also in attendance were County Cllr R. Whitaker and District Cllr R. Jackson.

  1. The Chairman welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance.

 

  1. Apologies for absence

Cllr H. Thorogood sent her apologies for absence.

  1. Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 1st December 2025 were signed as a true and correct record.

  1. Matters Arising From the Minutes

 

There were none.

 

  1. Report from District Councillor and County Councillor

 

  1. District Councillor R. Jackson presented a report – a copy of which is attached.

 

  1. County Councillor R. Whitaker gave an overview verbal report
    * There was more money available for fixing potholes
    * Grantham Road, Sleaford to be resurfaced which will cause some traffic disruption
    * More money will be available for county-wide policing

 

  1. Planning Applications

 

  1. Letter about retention of 45 monitoring boreholes and their associated headworks was noted.

 

6.2       Letter about planning appeal by Mareham Lane Solar Farm Ltd was noted. Cllr Sweeney had been in contact with them by email and they replied that they would meet with the Parish Council once they had an actual plan rather than a proposal.

  1. The clerk reported that the bank account showed a current balance of £42,616.15.

 

  1. Highway Matters

 

  1. It was noted that the portable toilets used when Station Road and Main Street were resurfaced over a month ago were still in place.

 

  1. The continuing problem with the bridge on Station Road was discussed.

8.3       The drain in the road at Northbeck was discussed..

  1. Other Village Matters
    1. The letter to out MP was briefly discussed again.

 

  1. Cherry tree on Northbeck Green – Cllr Sweeney explained how the roots seemed to be affecting the road and there were branches growing through the BT cabling. Cllr Sweeney agreed to write to BT.

 

  1. Dog Fouling – Cllr Sweeney agreed to write something for the village Facebook page.

 

  1. Beck Water Level Monitoring Equipment – the sensor had been installed near the Packhorse Bridge and a meeting with Historic England was awaited.

 

  1. The email from Flood Resilience Programme Co-ordinator was noted.

 

  1. Dates and Times of Meetings for the Year

Meetings for the coming year are set as:

Monday 18th May (AGM) 2026

All meetings to commence at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Centre.

The meeting closed at 8:15pm.
