CHARMAN’S REPORT 19th MAY 2025
Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for attending tonight.
I would like to introduce you to Ray Whitaker, Reform UK who is our new councillor for LCC representing the Sleaford Rural ward, who won his seat at the resent elections on the 1st May.
Congratulations Councillor Whitaker and thank you for attending tonight.
Thank you to Andrew Hagues our outgoing councillor, for all the valuable help over the years. Andrew rang me to say he had lost his post and that he had enjoyed his time at our meetings and being able to help us.
Thank you also to Russel Jackson for all his help who unfortunately isn’t able to join us tonight.
Thank you Peter for your invaluable knowledge and keeping us in order throughout the year.
Congratulations to Hannah Thorogood who joined us on the Parish Council earlier in the year.
So things that have happened in the last year, in no particular order.
Chris Pell continues to mow the Churchyard and is doing a fantastic job.
The rubbish bin next to the bus shelter has been replaced and looks a whole lot smarter. Thank you, Councillor Pywell, for sorting that.
Daffodil bulbs were planted again last autumn and looked amazing this spring. Many thanks to all who turned up to help plant the bulbs.
The Toddler Play Equipment has been installed and has had the seal of approval from ROSPA. With the glorious weather we have been having children have been able to use the new equipment and are loving it. We have received numerous positive comments and thanks from the parents.
Whilst the work was being done the older equipment received a tidy up and a fresh layer of woodchip, keeping it safe and looking smart.
A big thank you to all who made it possible and helped.
The frustration on the lack of maintenance on the beck continues. The EA have to stop blaming climate change and look to manage the drainage of the fens as they once were. This is a subject which has been spoken about at length at several meetings in the last 18 months, but getting any positive action seems impossible.
The proposed reservoir is still ongoing and work is about to commence on archaeological trial pits. Councillor Sweeny will give a more in depth report later.

Scredington Church Report 2025
By representative Alan Pywell
The Church continues to be part of the “Living Stones” group with Burton Pedwardine and Swaton.
Scredington Church has been re decorated through-out internally.
The church has a new treasurer, but all the other PCC members remained in their existing rolls.
This year has seen the 5 yearly quinquennial inspection take place, and with no main concerns, the church continues to be well kept and a credit to all its volunteers.
The Parish giving scheme continues to bring in much needed funds to Scredington Church by allowing anyone to give a fixed amount monthly, and as the congregation attends each other’s church services, most attendee’s support more than one church.
Scredington Church actively help in running the “Living Stones” Café Church which takes place on the fourth Sunday of each month.
The Church committee would like to thank the Parish Council for all their financial support with the cutting of the Churchyard, and all the help they receive from the Parish councillors is very much appreciated.

Scredington Community Centre Report 2025
By representative Alan Pywell
The Community Centre continued to be used regularly over the past year, with bookings from the NHS and organisations with-in Lincs County Council, parties of all kinds, a couple of weddings and a football team. There is also regular weekly use by the keep fit class. Sadly, the toddler group decided to cease operating, which is a shame.
The Committee also ran the annual Beer fest, Autumn Fling do and monthly Friday Night Socials excluding Jan, Feb, and March. Other organisations continue to book the facilities for their annual gatherings too.
The Community Centre continued to be used by the “Living Stones” group of churches for “Café Church” a get-together, open to all, with various activities, food including bacon rolls, cake and hot drinks, on the fourth Sunday of every month.
Improvements have been made like, the installation of a new toddler playground, replacing the projector for a better model, and getting a grant for solar panels, now fitted, which are working well and saving on electric costs. More improvements and replacements are also planned.
All the existing committee members were elected and continue in their previous roles and we have had two new committee members join this year.
All in all, the Community Centre continues to do well and keep ahead of its outgoings, this has only been achieved by the hard work of all its volunteers and the enormous help from the Parish Council, not only financially, but also the physical help that is given, for which we are greatly appreciative.
